Nigel is the lay member of the leadership team. He said why it is that he 'signed up' to this role.
My role grew for me. I was actively involved in leading worship for several years and was encouraged to get involved in the leadership of the church. There was no flash of light or big bounding voice, it was a simple, if I can help and bring some of my experiences and value I'll get involved.
Thanks Alicia for this insight.
I think that it is reassuring that for many of us, like Nigel, our call is something that grows from within.
What Nigel shared with you reminds me of what Stephen Conway says in ch 3 of 'This is our Calling' that our calling will involve being called for the sake of others.
In Nigel's case it seems that his calling was recognised by others who encouraged him to get further involved in leadership.
It seems that his desire is simple; if he can use his willingness to help and serve alongside his experience, then that's what he will do!
Sometimes we can over complicate things and it my help to be a but more like Nigel!
