It was such a refreshing change to begin study with prayer when I joined my first drop in on Tuesday.
Over the years, I have completed my fair share of studying as part of continuing professional development when I was a registered nurse.
I may well have said 'arrow type' prayers such as 'God help me!' when things were getting a bit much at times. But to set aside a prayer that says, 'As we study now, let our eyes and our ears be open to you....'
It just seems so intentional and as I reflect it makes me think whether I could have been more intentional about inviting God's presence and guidance into my studies in the past. He was after all very much a part of my call to nursing from the age of 3years old.
Not that it would necessarily have made anything easier but I'm pretty certain that it would have guided me to look through Jesus' eyes as I studied... I often saw through his eyes in the care that I gave but less so with the studies....
This shows me that I dedicated my practical hands on care to the Lord whenever I did it, but the practical studying less so...
Hi Tracey,
Thank you for your reflection. It has just made me pause and prayer (albeit briefly) before sitting down to write my week 4 reflections. I have been using the prayers at the strat and end of each session to help me to centre myself and, hopefully, open my eyes and ears as I study.
Thanks for this Tracey. Maybe you can go a bit further about "He was after all very much a part of my call to nursing from the age of 3years old" in a reflection for the next session?
